THE ALIGNMENT PROJECTProject title – Valued performances in mathematics and science classrooms in Australia, Finland and China: Interrogating the alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment Project websiteProject OverviewInternational research leads us to question curricular goals and their realization in instruction and assessment. We need to understand the way in which cultural settings and good practice combine to produce learning outcomes in mathematics and science. The inclusion of Finland and China provides important points of comparison between Australian practice and practices in highly successful comparator settings. This international project uses comparative methods and epistemic stance analysis to study valued performances documented in each setting with respect to curriculum, instruction, standards and assessment, and to critically review the alignment of these four essential elements within each of the three sites and for both mathematics and science.Research TeamDavid Clarke, University of Melbourne, AustraliaLi Hua Xu, University of Melbourne, Australia Natasha Ziebell, University of Melbourne, Australia Fritjof Sahlström, University of Helsinki, Finland Helen Melander, Uppsala University, Sweden Jonas Emanuelsson, University of Gothenburg, Sweden Yiming Cao, Beijing Normal University, China Lei Wang, Beijing Normal University, China Yufeng Guo, Beijing Normal University, China Yueyuan Kang, Beijing Normal University, China |
